Joey Bosa's Madden 22, rating is solid but has room for improvement for the LA Chargers' edge rusher.Joey Bosa enters Madden 22 as left outside in 92 overall linebacker (in previous editions he played as an end on the left, but because of the LA Chargers going to a 3-4 defense he is now an outside linebacker of the left). I would be hard-pressed to complain about the grade Bosa earned since he's one of the best edge rushers in the league.
Bosa knows that this isn't the case. At the point that the season ends and the Madden team adjusts the ratings Bosa will be somewhere in the upper-90s. In actuality, it should not be a surprise that Bosa is the second most highly rated defensive lineman in the game after Aaron Donald.
The most important reason is Staley. Bosa is already an outstanding player at this point in his career but Staley has earned a living by making elite players better. Von Miller and Khalil Mack were both successful under Staley. In actual fact, Mack had a career year under Staley as his coach of the outside linebackers. Mack hasn't been able to reach that standard since.
Mack has evidently been an excellent player, however Mack hasn't been able to duplicate that 2018 season. He got the best matchups in his career with Staley Mack, who was traded along with Vic Fangio to the Denver Broncos after that season.
Aaron Donald was already at the top of the food chain by the moment that Staley arrived with the Los Angeles Rams for 2020. But consider his impact on Leonard Floyd. He broke up with Staley in 2018but took his time in 2019 and then joined the Rams in 2020. It was the best year of his career.
